I Am Legend Vs Media Zoo

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

The makers of I Am Legend have come up with a terrific viral marketing campaign for Will Smith’s new film utilising a multiplayer first person shooter in Second Life which proved much more attractive to me than the educational launch of Media Zoo which I was planning on visiting yesterday evening. Strolling around the beautifully crafted orientation island created by the Electric Sheep Company I was struck by how it would be great if something this professional could be applied to an educational setting (a large scale health based simulation on a similar scale - obviously lacking the murderous vampires).

How much would something like this cost to create?

What a fantastic concept for those moments of dilemma…..

“These cards evolved from our separate observations on the principles underlying what we were doing. Sometimes they were recognized in retrospect (intellect catching up with intuition), sometimes they were identified as they were happening, sometimes they were formulated. They can be used as a pack (a set of possibilities being continuously reviewed in the mind) or by drawing a single card from the shuffled pack when a dilemma occurs in a working situation. In this case, the card is trusted even if its appropriateness is quite unclear. They are not final, as new ideas will present themselves, and others will become self-evident.” - Brian Eno/Peter Schmidt
