Technology ‘hype cycle’ turns against Second Life and lecture podcast apparently

Gartner are suggesting that virtual worlds are about to plunge into a “trough of disillusionment”, lecture podcasts are fast becoming obsolete, but cloud computing will soon be on the “slope of enlightenment” writes Zoe Corbyn in the Times Higher Education.

Difficult to find out how they’ve come to this conclusion without reading the actual report which I don’t have access to.

Review of Blausen Human Atlas 2.0 For iPhone

A glowing review of version 2.0 of the Blausen Human Atlas application (£11.99 at the iTunes store in the UK) from Notes from the Clinic. The only caveat seems to be that you need to be in range of Wireless Internet to fully appreciate the videos.

The Blausen Human Atlas website describes the iPhone application as providing point-of-care access to 3D animations of common medical treatments and conditions, with accompanying narration derived from the world’s largest award winning medical animation library.

Social Networking Hits Middle Ages

Social Networking sites are no longer the preserve of the young according to the latest Market Report from Ofcom the UK communications regulator….

ages 35-54 proportion logging on up 7% to 35%
ages 25-34 proportion logging on up 6% to 46%

Also of interest Twitter now has 2.6 million unique users in the UK whilst Second Life interest has plummeted down 67%.
