This paper considers the development of the HSC Wessex Bay simulated community from both technical and pedagogical perspectives with the curricular context for the development considered and the role of simulation in meeting educational needs explored. The technical development is outlined alongside an overview of an evaluation of its use. Conclusions are drawn around the strengths and limitations of this approach and include a consideration of further opportunities for developmental work.

The summary and full report from the E-Learning project “A Virtual Practice Community for student learning and staff development in Health and Social work Inter-professional education; Changing practice through Collaboration” written by Janet Scammell et al.
